Dataset of vertical temperature and conductivity profiles obtained from Hansbukta. The CTD profiles were obtained by a bottom-anchored autonomous profiler of ARVOR I -type (manufactured by NKE Instrumentation). Two different instruments were used: in 2024 the profiler was equipped with RBR CTD and in 2025 with SBE CTD and Aandera Optode.
The data are stored in folders organized by the year (YYYY) of measurements. Each vertical profile is stored as an individual, comma-separated ASCII file. The filenames are formed from the date and time of measurement as well as the station name (HB) and the running cycle number. The cycle number is precedented by either D or A, for Descent (down-cast) and Ascent (up-cast) phase of cycle, respectively. The sensors are located in the upper part of the profiler, and therefore the Ascent-profiles are considered more accurate. The full filename has the following format: YYYYMMDDhhmm_HB-(D/A)NNN.txt.
Each file includes eight headerlines with information on station name, geographical location (UTM), date and time of measurement, instrument and its serial number, source of financial support and data column names. Data columns are pressure (dbar), temperature (°C), conductivity (mS/cm), practical salinity (PSU), SigmaT density (kg/m^3), sound velocity (m/s), turbidity (FTU/NTU), dissolved oxygen saturation (%) and dissolved oxygen concentration (μmol /kg). Note that conductivity is not provided in the output of ARVOR I -profilers. Additional columns for vertical velocity (cm/s) and timestamp are given due to the slow vertical motion of the profiler.
Note that this is a raw dataset and no quality control has been performed on either the parameters or the metadata.
