Swider and Casleo fair weather atmospheric electric field / potential gradient during intense geomagnetic storms 2008-2018

This dataset provides the time series of 1-hour mean values of fair weather atmospheric electric field (or PG - electric potential gradient) data from the atmospheric electricity stations at Swider (Stanislaw Kalinowski Geophysical Observatory of the Institute of Geophysics PAS, Świder, Poland, short name: SWI) and Casleo (Complejo Astronómico El Leoncito, Argentina, short name: CAS) during strong geomagnetic storms (GMS) from the period 2008-2018. The list of events is provided as a part of the dataset. The PG time series (-2/+6 days from the GMS main phase onset day, at least 30% of relevant data present) were calculated from a revised series of observatory measurements corrected for technical errors and with non fair weather values excluded. Missing values in the dataset refer to bad weather periods or lack of PG data. The series also list corresponding 1-hour values (PG_mean) from monthly (CAS) or seasonal (SWI) mean curves of the diurnal variation of fair weather PG. According to the atmospheric electricity convention the sign of the fair weather electric field agrees with the physics convention sign of the electrical potential gradient. The unit is V/m. The measurement set-up and criteria for fair weather selection at each station are described in Tacza et al. 2022, DOI: 10.1029/2021SW002944.
