Impact of absorbing aerosols on the planetary boundary layer height
The objective of this research project is to determine impact of absorbing aerosols on the height of the planetary boundary layer, the lowest part of the atmosphere that is directly influenced by its contact with the Earth's surface. Particularly it will be established how presence of absorbing aerosols affects processes in the planetary boundary layer: nocturnal temperature inversion dispersal during the morning and the convective mixing during the day. The objectives will be achieved by in-situ measurements, using passive and active remote sensing of optical and microphysical properties of atmospheric aerosols and thermodynamics of the planetary boundary layer. The results of the measurements, will be applied for carrying out simulations of physical processes in the atmosphere.
