This dataset provides multi-seasonal raw Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) profiles and daily borehole ground temperature records collected in 2023 across the unglaciated Fuglebekken catchment near the Polish Polar Station Hornsund (SW Spitsbergen, Svalbard).
High-resolution GPR reflection profiling was carried out using a MALÅ ProEx system equipped with a shielded 250 MHz antenna (fixed antenna separation of 0.31 m) under two opposite ground thermal conditions:
· Frozen winter/spring state (April 28, 2023): 8,460 m of profiles recorded using a sledge pulled by a snowmobile across continuous snow cover.
· Maximum thaw state (September 22–27, 2023): 14,720 m of profiles measured using a manual cart across snow-free terrain.
Important Data Processing Note: The GPR data in this repository are completely raw and unmigrated, without time-zero correction, filtering, background removal, gain adjustment, or topographic (static) elevation corrections. All radar traces preserve original two-way travel times (TWT) and recorded amplitude values. Navigation and trace-coordinate pairings are provided via raw GPS files.
Thermal ground conditions and freeze-thaw boundaries are provided via daily records from three boreholes equipped with Geoprecision Pt100 thermistor strings (±05°C accuracy): Lisek (BH1, coastal terrace, 0.20–5.00 m depth), Maskonur, and Gęś (inland transect). This dataset provides open benchmark field geophysics for testing custom filtering flows, migration algorithms, velocity modeling, and cryo-hydrogeological interpretations in permafrost settings.
