Dataset on porous particles settling through rheological transition

This dataset contains (1) measurements of settling dynamics of porous spheres through the two-layered liquid column composed of artificial seawater (AS) that is a Newtonian layer and xanthan gum (XG) dispersion in AS (non-Newtonian layer) with rheological transition between layers, (2) rheological characteristics of XG dispersions in AS. The sinking dynamics of particles were examined in a settling column using visualisation and Particle Tracking Velocimetry methods to obtain data on the position of the particle centroid in time. Rheological measurements were carried out to assess the flow properties of test liquids.
